SKY

“Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

Genesis 1: 6-8

And there was Sky

As words are spoken

So the world is formed

Once, wild wonder unleashed

A star crowded canopy

Charged with undiscovered knowing,

And called it sky.

Light diffused and blues emanated

In countless shades

And blended hues,

A breadth of curious space,

Shifting, volatile, untameable,

Stirring imagination.

This expanse of mystery

Without borders,

Raising our gaze heavenward

Evoking questions,

Magnificence and magnitude,

Shifting perspectives.

Stop

Look

Breathe

Know

We are dust and spirit,

Heart and soul,

And we are named,

Called into being

By the one who is

Word and Wisdom,

The maker of earth

And sky.
