Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.”

Genesis 1:16 (NLT)

The God who sees

May my eyes open

To the one who sees

Present, beneath

And beyond.

Wonderfully within.

Let my soul breathe

The freedom of

Unrestricted, relentless

Love,

This territory of beauty, truth

And welcome

Where I am declared

Beloved.

May my heart be ready

For such a homecoming,

A beholding and knowing of

The whole of me,

Deeper than my brokenness

A brightness of becoming.

May I also,

Unhindered by bias and prejudice,

Hurt and fear,

Offer an open embrace.

This generous receiving of the other

A kind-eyed seeing.
